THE FIRST GENERAL MEETING will be TUESDAY, NOV. 9 (as usual, the 2nd Tuesday of the month).  For the startup we'll have a Potluck and will open the doors at 6:00 pm.  You are not obliged to bring anything, but do come to the meeting, which will begin no later than 7:30 pm. The refreshment stand will be open, too, if you're thirsty.

The Board will bring you all up to date on activities since our last meeting in April, and what we can look forward to this year.  (Life is never dull in Puerto Vallarta.)

We are fortunate to have as our GUEST SPEAKER, JOAQUIN AJA, PHD., whose topic, “Anxiety and Depression in Paradise,” should be of interest to us all.

Our first meeting of the Board of Directors will be Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00 am.  The board welcomes members who wish to observe the proceedings, and who might also wish to present a petition or comment for consideration.  (You can also email our president Alfonso Ward at any time.)

  Since the founding of the IFC in 1987 there have been tremendous strides in what has been accomplished by so many dedicated individuals, and with your active participation and support, we can achieve even more.  An important facet in achievement is interest in a project,  and the enthusiasm and determination to bring it to fruition.  We all have specific talents that can lend themselves to a successful team effort.  What ideas might your experience bring forth?  From a seed...  Share with us and let's expand and reap.  (Send us an email if you'd prefer.)  Let's discuss possibilities.  Do you have any suggestions for Speakers, Fund Raising, etc. 

HOME TOURS are readying its startup for Wednesday, November 17.  Posters will be available for distribution at the General Meeting, November 9.  Please plan to take at least one (more, if you have places for them) to put in a prominent location.  Many thanks.

MEMBERSHIP:  We will continue to use the calendar year, Jan. l-Dec. 31, for renewal of membership, and will start renewing from our November meeting onward.  You'll recall that membership fees are as follows:  Single $330 pesos; Couple $550 pesos.  (Any checks should be made out to the Spanish name:  Club Internacional de la Amistad, and if it's an American check, please add $5.00 US for the bank's service charge.)   We'll be looking for your smiling faces; you've all been missed during these summer months.

WELCOME TO A LOVELY NEW MEMBER COUPLE:  (They dance, too--the classic tango!)  Albert and Barbara  Garvey......Now in Puerto Vallarta.  We also welcome new members Clay Chan, Twila Crawford, Betty Gumble-Hipp and Tom Hipp, Robert Magyar, Ralph and Lori Marinelly, Tommy and Nancy Patterson, Malcolm and Joan Tanton, and Philippa Vernon-Powell.  And welcome back Caroline Barlett of Puerto Vallarta. 

None of us can do it alone--let's band together in a solid, cohesive force and get those things done that improve life for the underprivileged here.

The Committee wants to thank member Cristina Judas for her generosity in providing her unusual ocean-front estate to initiate our 2004-2005 fund-raising/social season.  The purpose of this event is for the IFC's Children's Medical Program. Cristina is determined to make this a memorable, fabulous Halloween party, providing live music, dancing, food and beverages, and for more fun, a best costume (or come as you are), and dance prizes; and perhaps some surprises, too!  You don't want to miss this one, and the number of available tickets is limited.
