Well by the time you receive this you will all be planning, or have already planned to return here to this beautiful place called “Puerto Vallarta”. Hope this finds you all in good health so that you are able to return.

Maybe not all of you have heard that Annie our Office Keeper and Answer-All young lady at our Clubhouse desk, took another position this past Spring. However before she left she found a girlfriend of hers to take her place and break her in. Kirsten is her name and for all of us she is doing a wonderful job, and I can attest to that from the e-mails we receive at the Club e-mail address, which she answers. I have asked her to write an article for this newsletter.

Kirsten Reinking, new IFC Administrator

I am putting out a call to all members to get involved in some of our programs. We have a lot of Committee Chairs to fill. We need help in all fields (And surely you can volunteer to help on one):

Steering Committee:
Education
Community Services
Medical
Fundraising:
Home Tours
Bazaar
Cookbooks
Facilities
Membership
Social/Hospitality
Publicity

Please contact me A.S.A.P. After all, we all take credit for what the Club de la Amistad does here n the community, and I do not like seeing the burden of volunteering fall on so very few.

1st General Meeting Tuesday,

November 13 !

MEDICAL COMMITTEE REPORT

Patricia Mendez 223-1032

Pasoancho@hotmail.com

Our Medical Program has been quite productive throughout the summer. We’ve completed two successful programs of cleft palate surgeries in May and August and are preparing for our next program beginning October 31st.

We’ve also completed four eye surgeries through our Patricino program, two Pteriygium surgeries for Santos Avalos Sr., and corrective surgeries for Hypertropia for both Santos Avalos Jr. and Mari Isabel Avalos. The expense incurred for completing all four surgeries was $6,000 pesos (more about these surgeries in Kirsten’s report on pg.6).

I’d like to remind all of you that we strongly need wheelchairs and your efforts in acquiring and transporting them during your next trip to Puerto Vallarta are greatly appreciated

TREASURERS REPORT

Allan Badner – email: abadner@attcanada.ca

Thanks to Kirsten, email and Internet banking, I have been able to keep in complete control of the club’s finances from my home in Toronto.

I am also pleased to report that as of my accounting to August 31, 2001, the club finances are in excellent shape and we can continue making a difference to the people in need in Puerto Vallarta. Our cash projections are on target and all our obligations and charitable commitments are being fully fulfilled.

Our workers on the distribution side have been doing their great work and so there has been no interruption in the flow of funds to these important community services.

Please note that House Tours grossed 71% of our total raised funds for the year. Therefore, it is very important that this part of our fundraising be strongly manned by a dedicated chairperson or persons and be supported by an equally hard working contingent of member volunteers. The next highest grossing fundraiser was Cookbook sales which also deserves a good chairperson or persons and volunteers. So, I urge you to step up to the plate if you wish to assure that the IFC continues making a difference to the people of Puerto Vallarta and surroundings.

I am looking forward to being back in PV in late November.
