Gathering up all of the stray pieces, we're amassing a volume of ideas to generate even more club activities, our prime goal being to increase our service to the community and its citizens.  We are seeking more ways to increase our donations of both coin and goods.  We've established a Fund Raising Committee and there is no limit to the number of members who can participate.  Please join us in creating new directions to pursue.  Contact Committee Chairman Bill Platzer (tel:  221-5832; email:  williamplatzer@msn.com) with any suggests you might have based on your experience.  He'll appreciate hearing from you.

There are many who have retired from a business life fraught with stress and have left that all behind to pursue the fun and play here in our own paradise by the sea.  But perhaps some have felt a little bit guilty not to devout a few hours occasionally to give something back to this community that has been good to us.  Here's a way to donate--if nothing more than sharing your experiences and expertise.  What can you offer us that might enhance our position in the realm of giving?  You don't have to contribute anything other than even one idea.  Share it with us--an idea can't possibly drain you.  We'll be waiting.

Another milestone--more nice people who have chosen to join the group.  Welcome, welcome--we're here to thank you for becoming one of our force:

Jane A. Blank Westervill, OH
Dan and Lynda Edwards Bellingham, WA
David Ehrlich Puerto Vallarta
Herbert and Cynthia Fields New York, NY
Jean S. Harrie Pahrump, NV
Alfred (Jim) and Kitsy Keetch South Jordan, UT
Niss Ryan Larchmont, NY
Marcy and Richard Trudeau Puerto Vallarta

Welcome back Charley and Kathy Head of Prescott, AZ.

Thank you all and your family and friends who introduced you to all of the good things the IFC does.

Some of you may be eager to offer your services to assist in some way with the work of our various programs.  As stated, some of these programs do not require a daily or weekly schedule, HOWEVER, if you do have a specific area you want to delve into, let's do it.  Please call the clubhouse or me and let us know where your interest lies.  We'll get you involved, and perhaps you will develop a new program.  Let's get started.

By the way, if you choose to renew your membership by check, or write a check for any other purpose addressed to the IFC, PLEASE WRITE ANY CHECKS TO OUR SPANISH NAME:  'CLUB INTERNACIONAL DE LA AMISTAD'.  The bank requires our name be in Spanish.  Many thanks.

You might remember, too...

NEVER BE AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING NEW.  REMEMBER, AMATEURS BUILT THE ARK, PROFESSIONALS BUILT THE TITANIC.

The International Friendship Club will be hosting a fabulous world premier of a sparkling new musical titled “Just Imagine,” beginning Wednesday, March 17th at 8:00 p.m.     Shows will continue each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday through April 3rd50% of the box office proceeds for each show will be donated to the IFC!  We’re aiming for an average attendance of 50 people per night, tickets will be $150 pesos with nine scheduled performances, do the math and calculate how much this could bring in to the IFC.  We’re urging our members to support this event, tell your family and friends and plan to attend a truly enjoyable evening.

Tickets are on sale with Valeska at the IFC clubhouse from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Mon. – Fri., and all day at Curves (146 Pulpito), Dee’s Coffee Co. (120 Rodolfo Gomez) and the Net House (232 I.L. Vallarta St).

Robert Dow, a long time writer for and director of theater, from Markdale, Toronto, wrote the scrip, music and lyrics for “Just Imagine.”  He regularly spends his winters in Puerto Vallarta and is directing and producing this show.  We are privileged to have such a talented man choose the International Friendship Club as his venue for the world premier of his latest original work.  Robert’s plays have also premiered in Toronto, Philadelphia, California and Houston. Mr. Dow has put together a great cast of 4 (including 2 IFC members!).  The cast includes Kirsten Reinking who has appeared in several local English theater productions, singing and dancing in musical reviews, and acting in The Man Who Came to Dinner, Steele Magnolias, Play On, and On Golden Pond.  IFC member, Frank Meyer, is also starring.  Frank is another familiar face in local Vallarta theater.

He has appeared in many musical events as well as, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Play On and On Golden Pond.  The talented Kathy Overly lends her lovely voice and animated acting skills to the cast as well.  Kathy is another regular to local theater, appearing as the hilarious Ms. Weezer in Steele Magnolias and Nurse Preen in the Man Who Came to Dinner.  She has been a featured soloist in many local musical productions.  Many of you may remember her rousing rendition of “Life is a Cabaret,” featured in two recent productions.  And finally Doug Kasmer will make his debut in the Vallarta theater scene.  He’s our latest discovery and adds his silky, smooth tenor voice to the production.  He’s new to a Vallarta show but certainly not new to the stage.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend a thoroughly enjoyable production of “Just Imagine,” while supporting the good works of the International Friendship Club with 50% of your ticket price!
