By the time you are reading this our membership will have elected or re-elected the IFC officers for May l, 2004-May 1, 2005.  Our Nominating Committee was very pleased to return for election the same slate of officers that officiated for the previous year.  We, of course, welcome anyone who wishes to offer their name as a candidate for any of the offices:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary.  Perhaps at our Tuesday, March 9 meeting, some member will ask to be added to the slate of candidates.  Our sincere welcome to any member willing to participate in the responsibilities of this thriving charitable organization.  Any of the positions is not difficult when you have other experienced members to help guide you.

At the April 13th General Meeting we will have the inauguration of officers.

In January the IFC was asked by the Radio Group KRMS AM 1150 of Missouri in the US, at their 5th Annual "Beat the Winter Blues" visit here to Puerto Vallarta, to be interviewed on their program which was broadcast from the Crown Paradise Resort.  Yvonne and I spent at least 30 minutes commenting on the club's charity programs emphasizing the different needs for goods for our medical and educational programs.  We also answered questions addressed to us by callers-in.  The radio show host promoted our Home Tour to its listeners along with a request for any donations of money, medical equipment (we're especially seeking an anesthesiology machine for our cleft palate surgeries) and any other goods for the Mexican needy.  The radio group will see to it that any such will reach us here in Puerto Vallarta.

Our Publicity Chair, Don Gallery, also participated in promoting the works of the IFC for another several minutes elaborating on all of our activities.  He made sure that we received prominent notice.  Hopefully we will be hearing more from the US as a result of these interviews.

We also want to thank KRMS 1150 AM for its devotion to our causes.  The group's personnel brought with them a generous amount of school supplies for students in our education program, and are being distributed now.  Your wonderful support does make a big difference in furthering what help we can provide to this community.  Thank you all again; we will look forward to seeing you again in 2005.

A telephone card service was presented to the club at our February 10 General Meeting.  The service is for calls to the US and Canada; 33% of the purchase price is donated to the IFC.  Cards are available at the club house (call Valeska at 222-5466 for details).

Our thanks also to members Mike and Marge Alder for their generosity in providing for auction their time-share week at a resort in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo (Saturday Feb. 28 to March 6), the proceeds of which were donated to the IFC.  Our member and dedicated Community Services Chair, Susan Davalos, was the happy bidder.  Thank you for providing this as a benefit to our cause.

We commend and thank Patricia Mendez, Joanne Quickstad, Susan Davalos and all the volunteers who made the Cleft Palate Informe held February 3 at the clubhouse another successful event.  Viewing some of the before and after pictures and then meeting some of these beautiful children was a heart-rendering experience.

On Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21, Puerto Vallartans who could get tickets, experienced the exciting premier of the long-awaited movie, "Puerto Vallarta Squeeze", produced here in PV by Carolyn Chambers a long-time resident and benefactor.    Ms. Chambers, you may recall, donated to the IFC's annual 2003 Bazaar, a substantial number of items from the movie set, largely responsible for the most successful such event in our history.  The beautiful crucifix which hangs in the Santa Cruz Church on

Lazaro Cardinas is also from the movie set.   A simple plaque thanking Ms. Chambers for this generous donation was presented to her at the Saturday premier celebration on behalf of the IFC.  We suspect her movie will be a box-office success.

Member Gila Badner, has taken on the duties, Communication Chair, responsible for contacting by telephone members who do not have a computer to alert them to information that is being processed by email to others.  Thank you, Gila, for committing to this task, which I'm certain is truly appreciated.

Thank you, too, Kirsten Reinking, for producing our (almost) monthly "Newsletter".  You've taken on a tremendous task, and your efforts are enjoyed by a mass of readers, including non-members who also read of our activities on the website.
