Welcome back, too: Ozzie Badal Chicago, IL and Tomy Harrington & Pam Stewart Portland, ORCOOKBOOKS: Our newest edition has arrived, and we're anxious for sales. We sell our beautiful cookbooks at our home tours and at the Club office. However, you, too, can participate in selling by just mentioning them to your friends and family members. The supply is kept at the clubhouse which is open from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. The sale of these books is another important fund-raising project that you can help with. (The book makes an excellent gift, by the way. Take a look at it the next time you're in the clubhouse.) Don't be shy about participating in one of our projects. We're scouting the talents you have and will be in touch. And here's a few more words--we can all appreciate...(All authors are "Unknown".) Few of us get dizzy from doing too many good turns. People may doubt what you say, they will believe what you do. An accordion is an instrument invented by the person who couldn’t decide how big the fish was that got away. |
BAZAAR Yvonne Ward Tel. 228-0050 Fax: 228-0458 E-mail: yvonneal@pvnet.com.mx The word is out and the goods are being delivered--to the clubhouse and to Villas Loma Linda for trucking to the club's bodega in anticipation of February 2003's Bazaar. Whenever you're in the cleaning mode keep us in mind. As we've stated before, everything has some use--pristine condition or a fixer-upper--old or new, worn or frayed--clothes, shoes, toys, hats, jewelry, novelties, art objects, pictures, paintings, the unusual whatever, luggage, housewares, linens, appliances (broken okay we'll check it out), etc., etc. P.S. we need lots of goodies for the pastry booth. Please plan on baking or buying something. Possible Bazaar dates will be either Saturday, February 15 or Saturday the 22nd.” Give us a call, fax or email. We're waiting and Thank You

EDUCATION
COMMITTEE REPORT Jimmie Ellis Tel. 222-1478 E-mail: mjellis@prodigy.net.mx The Club has recently provided funding to initiate work upgrading the water system, the bathrooms and some tile work at the Emiliano Zapata Kindergarten on Calle Pino Suarez. This school is one of the oldest in Vallarta and has morning classes for the 220 students attending the three levels of kindergarten. Afternoon classes include 60 more students. The school has initiated a program that is intended to repair and rebuild aging facilities, to provide space for a small teacher’s office and to construct a playground. We will be working with the Department of Education, the Parents Association and the Director of the kindergarten to help them realize their plans. We intend to provide further assistance to Special Education School No. 21 to improve the working and recreational areas of the school. The City is planning to finish two new classrooms but much work is needed on the existing facilities. Many members have visited this school in the past and recognize the needs. The Club continues to support the Public Library with funding of 3000 pesos each month. For new members, this library is operated by a private foundation that receives money from the city, from private sources and, most importantly, donations from the public. I wish to welcome Sandy Baker and Judy Farris as new members of the Education Committee. |
