A NICE LETTER FROM TONY FAVELLO

Dear IFC members,

For the past 13 years I have been offering help with the Cleft Palate Surgical Programs held through the IFC some 4 – 5 times a year. I would like all of us members to be reminded of what a wonderful job Patricia (Mendez) and Joanne (Quickstad) are doing as coordinators of this program. They embarrass me by the many hours of their time and talents that they devote to this. First, they coordinate all the announcements and schedules with the surgical team from Guadalajara. Then, they are actively involved with the team on Wednesday, the day of consult and evaluation for some 8-10 hours; they’re at the hospital from 9:00 a.m. to sometimes 11:00 p.m. on the day of surgery and then back again Friday morning for the post-op consult before getting the team of doctors and nurses back to the airport for their return to Guadalajara. They arrange housing and meals for the team and resolve whatever problems arise during their volunteered visit here. They do a wonderful job, which they love, and I just want all of us to know it. And they even go to most of the club meetings and update those in attendance!!!

Sincerely,

Tony Favello

The calendar year end is approaching and the holiday festivities are in full swing--our unique city is blooming with the bright lights of the Christmas season reflecting the hopes and prayers for a new year of peace and harmony throughout the world.   Please, God, let it be so.

And, our new year here at IFC has already begun with our hopes for more intense interest of our good members to join with others here in the volunteer activities we have committed ourselves to in the name of charity.  We will be calling on you for assistance.  When asked to lend us your talent, please be ready with the one 3-letter word that has such an impact, say "YES"!

Our Telephone Committee chair person is Gila Badner, and she and her assistants will be contacting all of you at various times with news and reminders.   Even those of you with an email address will be getting calls since there may be times when you might miss a message.  We want to keep you all apprised of any special interest items that might miss the Newsletter issue.

Looking forward to our next General Monthly Meeting--Tuesday, January 8, don't forget many of you members are up for renewal (your renewal date is the same as the expiration date on your card).  If you can, bring along a guest.  By that date most of you should be back, and we would hope that you'll join in the activities.

We have the pleasure, too, to say WELCOME here to our newest members:

Albert Burrows and Karen Guthrie Alameda, CA

Douglas & Kathy Huffman Spokane, WA

Pat Kisly & Rosemarie Maune Richmond, CA

Elizabeth Zemmels Woodland, CA

During this season of good spirit and giving, right now somebody:

--is thinking of you

--wants to be forgiven

--is glad that your his/her friend

--treasures your spirit

--is very proud of you

--wants to laugh with you

--is thankful for the support you have provided

--wants to tell you how much they care

--wants to give you a gift

--can't wait to see you

--thinks YOU are a gift

--wants to hold you in their arms

--wants to hug you

--needs your support

--is thinking of you and smiling

May this 2001 holiday season bring all families and friends even closer together, and guide us in sharing such happiness with others.

Hasta que nos veamos (Until we meet again...)
