GET OUT YOUR BATONS… Let’s strike up the band for an exciting 2001 millennium year. And, let’s keep a positive and optimistic attitude, set reasonable goals for ourselves, and take a step at a time to a successful ending. Remember the promises you’ve made to yourself in the past but did not keep? But, you can do anything you set your mind to - if you want to enough!
We - THE CLUB - have reached the “high season” here in Puerto Vallarta when the tourist population reaches its peak. To accomplish the goals of the Club, we all need to join hands and participate in the activities of this organization which is dedicated to good works for the benefit of the community. When you become a member you also take on a responsibility to offer assistance in any way you ca when called upon. You don’t need to be experienced in any particular area in most instances - all you need do is lend us your assistance and time, whether for a few hours or less, a week or perhaps only on a special project - your willingness and a simple “yes” will open some interesting doors for you. For instance, we always need docents for our Home Tours, help with the distribution of the Club’s cookbooks and our telephone committee to inform members of special events. Just these three activities enable you to talk to myriads of people, some of which not only become acquaintances, but later friends, and, the more new friends you make, the more exciting your life will become here in the paradise we call Puerto Vallarta. So let’s get rolling and join in the fun of doing something to enrich our lives. Be that active “giver” and “doer”, and reap the satisfaction and good feeling you earn as your reward.
BIG NEWS FOR THE LADIES (and sometime for the men). A few of the ladies have decided to reactivate the semi-monthly luncheons. Arrangements will be made by 2-3 ladies for each luncheon, with the start-up to be at Mama Mia’s (a new restaurant in the Marina). Pina Carlini will be making arrangements for this first gathering. Call her at 22-12484 for reservations. However, payment for the luncheon must be made in advance to ensure the number of plates guaranteed with each restaurant and the menu will be pre set. Various members will be designated to collect the money to make pre-payment convenient.

forget, too, to enlighten your friends and acquaintances to our activities and bring them to a meeting; we’d like to meet them. (If you have a computer you can print a Membership application form from our website: www.pvmexico.com Click on “Newsletter” page 4).
Here are our newest members and friends. We welcome you all and are very pleased you made the decision to become one of us. Perhaps we’ll see a familiar name or home town among you. A cheery hello to one and all!
Also, welcome back to Myra McAuliffe of Washington, D.C.
And, in closing… SEE WHAT WE LOOK FOR: “The founder of general semantics, the late Alfred Korzybski (1879-1950) used to say that everything we experience is the result of a process of abstraction and selection. We see what we are looking for. More importantly, we do not see what we are not look for.”
Hasta que nos veamos (until we meet again…) |
