I am pleased to report that the club finances are in excellent shape and we can continue making a difference to the people in need in Puerto Vallarta.  Our cash projections are on target and all our obligations and charitable commitments are being fully fulfilled. We are now well into our season and our cash balances are building up.  Our income is up over last year and our expenses are down, so we are on the right track.

Our lifeblood is the income from the Home Tours, without which, we could not function.  We raised the dues this year to help us cover our clubhouse operations but the funds raised from the Home Tours and Cookbooks go directly into our many community programs.  We would be remiss in not saluting our Home Tour workers headed by Susan Austin.

Susan Austin is now in her 6th year of running the Home Tours (two with Irma Willis). She has her hands full arranging for the houses and all the necessary details to run a successful home tour.  Susan first visited Puerto Vallarta in 1973 on a short vacation from her fireworks business in Denver Colorado.  She instantly fell in love with Vallarta and returned the next year, when she brought her family down for a longer visit.  About six years ago, her Architect son, Andy designed a beautiful home for her on the south mountain overlooking the Old Town.

Susan is ably assisted by, Bob Lilley who is from San Francisco and lives here six months of the year.  Also on the job, are Canadians John Hamlin and John Lockington who split the year in two paradises, Muskoka, Ontario and Puerto Vallarta.  Leon Rolnick, our Vice-President and veteran Home Tours cashier, hails from Bakersfield, California but spends at least six months with his wife Marise in their gorgeous condo in Punta Negra, south of town. He is assisted by, Esther Johnson of Vancouver, BC. Special thanks must go out to the many docents who come out week after week to actually conduct the tours.

It was so pleasant to see all of the smiling faces at this month's General Meeting (I have to admit, too, that the pot luck offerings are getting even more delectable).  We did enjoy the gathering and our guests.  We'll try to present more of interest at the next session, Tuesday, February 10 (We'll ask you to bring a favorite dessert [cookies/cake/pie] for an accompaniment to coffee and tea).

Your concerted effort in promoting the IFC to your family and friends has brought many new members to us.  We value your interest in our causes and will try to achieve even greater things with your help.  Thank you all for your wonderful support.  Please keep it up--it is important to maintain the strength of our organization and its prominence in Puerto Vallarta.

Here are our NEWEST IFC MEMBERS.  Welcome to you and we hope you will involve yourselves in some way, comfortable to you, in the things that we do.  Let us introduce you here:

You now all know that the new membership annual fee has been increased:  Effective January 1 the Single Membership is now $330 Pesos ($30 US); Couples $550 Pesos ($50 US).  The dues have never been increased to my knowledge.  Please follow through with renewing your dues.  We need your support.  Thanks in advance.  Clubhouse hours are from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM Monday through Friday weekly.

As a reminder, don't forget our cookbooks (do promote them not only for the wonderful recipes and colorful and pleasing artwork in them, but as exceptional gifts for your favorite friends and family members).

To start off the second month of this new year, here's a few things to consider:

"'Knowledge is power' said Hobbs, 'but, imagination is more powerful even than knowledge' said Einstein."

"The great thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in which direction we are moving."

"You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving."

Remember, too, "A friend is one who comes in when the whole world has gone out."

Hasta Nos Veamos (Until we meet again...)

Everything is looking better and optimism reigns in this new year.  Yes, we can accomplish what we set out to do here for those seeking our aid, and we will continue to gain more insight and the ability, means and resources to tackle and accomplish the tasks on hand.   We have the accumulative know-how and the combined force to do what needs to be done.  We are the team--the group that finds the way.

We're reaching out again for more of your ideas and asking you to assist, even in a minor way--sometimes only with ideas--to reach some of our goals, whether to do with some minor social event, or perhaps lending your talents for a very brief period.  Be there for us when the call comes--there's no more satisfaction than knowing you were responsible for assisting in completing a project well done.
