(Friday early evening we will bring needed equipment from the clubhouse.) Continue to clean out your living quarters and garages--we need anything useable--furniture, clothing, accessories (purses, jewellery, eye glasses, etc.), appliances (even non-working--we or purchasers will repair--large or small), building supplies (If you're in doubt, give us a call). If you can deliver your items, we would prefer you bring them to Villas Loma Linda (call 223-2591 or 223-2791 for directions or call me at 228-0050), easier access than the clubhouse for us to pick up. SIGN UP NOW: If you haven't yet signed up for the work brigade for the bazaar, let me hear from you--we need all of the hands we can get. PASTRY BOOTH: Please plan to donate some of your own baking, or purchased sweets for this popular booth; seems like we never have enough to fill the demand. (You bring your sweets to the booth Sunday morning at 8:00 AM.) PLANT BOOTH: Rhoda Rossmoore who mans this booth would greatly appreciate all the plants and little (planted) slips she can get. Our purchasers really relish having the opportunity to acquire plants for their homes. (Call her if you have questions: 221-5179.) Thanks to all of you who participate in this event, and especially the donors of goods--KEEP THEM COMING. Until the big day--LET US HEAR FROM YOU!

EDUCATION
COMMITTEE REPORT Jimmie Ellis Tel: 222-1478 E-mail: mjellis@prodigy.net.mx As previously reported, the Club has provided funding to upgrade the water system, the bathrooms and some tile work at the Emiliano Zapata Kindergarten on Calle Pino Suarez. This work has now been completed at a cost of $27,000 pesos. There were a few problems during the reparation because of the age of the building but the work was completed in a timely manner. The school requires a playground and is looking for funding from the Department of Education and the Club to build a small room for the 15 or so special education kids. This is all part of the ongoing upgrading of the school. This school is one of the oldest in Vallarta and has morning classes for the 220 students attending the three levels of kindergarten. Afternoon classes include 60 more students. We have not commenced work at the Special Education school as we await the Department of Education’s budget for the school. We will work with them at this school over the course of the year. Part of the Club’s community funding support goes to Becas Vallarta A. C. that will hold its annual dinner dance on February 28, 2003. This year the Club will donate $40,000 pesos to this long established scholarship program that has helped thousands of low-income Vallarta children complete their education. Club President Al Ward will make the presentation at the dinner dance. Sandy Baker Tel: 01-329-295-5095 E-mail: phyllis1933@hotmail.com Kindergarten de Los Mangos, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle: On January 9th, we received a letter requesting help to install a tinaco (water storage tank) at the Kinder de Los Mangos. This school was built 2 years ago and consists of one open-air classroom and a bathroom. The roofs are corrugated laminate. The roof will not support a tinaco. The water supply in La Cruz is often off for 3 to 4 days at a time, plus the water is only available from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. There are 20 students in the school and this is a serious hygiene problem. The cost to build a support and connect to the water supply line is $8,790.00 pesos. This school is in a very poor area, however it is very clean and quite charming. The IFC has approved this project.
