FROM THE PRESIDENT Al Ward Tel. 223-2591 or 228-0050 E-mail: yvonneal@pvnet.com.mx
You can't stop the clock; we can't slow down the passing days. We have much to accomplish during these remaining months of the "high" season when most of you are in residence. The Board extends it's sincere thanks for all of those members willingly participating in our varied projects; we welcome more of you to join with us in achieving our goals. It has been a pleasure to all to see so many of our friends/members attending our monthly General Meetings. My thanks to Vice President Leon Rolnick for chairing the December meeting during my absence. The January 14 gathering was particularly satisfying with another generous array of food enjoyed by all in the open air of our building terrace. Our featured speaker, Dan Dana, offered helpful advice and direction on mediation approaches that we will undoubtedly put to good use. He was flexible enough to change his modus operandi and speak to us outside. We thank him again for sharing his expertise with us. Note the interesting schedule of meetings and upcoming events through March: The Monarch Butterflies tour may have to be scheduled for February--perhaps a caravan of member cars--the trip should be short. The Copper Canyon tour, the latter part of March, details and cost are being finalized. CALL THE CLUBHOUSE--222-5466 or me at 228-0050; or email or fax me (see above) to sign up. (This will not commit you but will give us an idea on how many we might be able to expect. When the details and cost are available you will be contacted and can then make your decision.) Our meetings will continue to present speakers on subjects of particular interest to all of us; your comments and suggestions for meeting participation will certainly be appreciated. The membership is a mix of many talented people whose myriad experiences and knowledge could be enriching to all of us, if shared We now have a Facilities Director: Ted Will, who has already taken the reins of this function and is acquainting himself with the system of maintaining the clubhouse. He’s a real go-getter. His first day in, he changed all burned out light bulbs and took down the fan blades for sanding and painting. And soon, thanks to Ted and his wife Karene, Kirsten will have a nice curtain to block out the glare at the window beside her desk rather then a retired home-tour banner. Another position, Social Director, has been taken on by Marian Hansen. We will be hearing more from Ted and Marian. Thank you for taking on these two posts; we are all here to assist you in these endeavours. Congratulations on stepping forward! |
As the clock has been ticking, we have already arrived at the time for election of officers of the Board, to take place at our March 11 General Meeting. Our Election Committee Chairperson, Donna Readerman, after conferring with the current Board Officers reports that they have all opted for re-election:
Opponents, of course, are welcome to come forth. Our volunteer work for the World Cup Golf Tournament (Dec. 9 through 15) did not reap the amount of funds for our charities as we had hoped. To date the only funds acquired were from locker room tips from a few of the golfers in the tournament. The majority were not generous; a great disappointment. We sincerely thank those golfers who were generous for the daily services provided them in the locker rooms. The Board also wants to welcome our new members and look forward to working with them side by side in our many activities. Thank you all for joining with us to make the prominence of our organization felt within this wonderful community we call Puerto Vallarta. Ours is a grand organization made up of fine people. We thank you all for being part of what we do, and for the friendship, which is our banner. | |||||||||||
