MEMBERSHIP Yvonne Ward Tel. 228-0050 E-mail: yvonneal@pvnet.com.mx HO, HO, HO! We're on the go...The PV "high" season has begun and lots of you are here (witness the stupendous turnout at the season's initial gathering Tuesday, November 12) and many more of you are about to arrive. What a busy several months ahead! No, we who reside here in Puerto Vallarta did not get swept away by the Friday, October 25, hurricane that drifted onto our seaside city. Some areas experienced a deluge of water, but many of us who actually live at the waterfront did not have any damage other than dirty pools that in one day were cleaned; and some few high-rise condo buildings had broken windows. It's ironic that the greatest damage from flooding appeared to be in concentrated areas. Miraculously it appears that there were no fatalities here in the city. And, the tourists visiting us will in many cases wonder if there really was a hurricane here. For instance, stores that were flooded have been back in business for one to two weeks already. One of the large department stores on the ocean side of the main highway into town was completely purged with water--all of its wares went right through the front windows to the street. It, too, has been in full operation for more than a week. A few of the hotels had water damage on the lower levels, but they, too, should be ready for full operation shortly. Peace now reigns, and the sunshine is smiling down at us. Come and see for yourselves. Since these few months that we are all together are a very busy time for the myriad of projects we are involved in, your direct participation in all that we do is tantamount to how successful our efforts will be. Most of us were spurred on to inquire about the International FRIENDSHIP Club for just that reason--friendship--meeting people and finding new friends in a new city and country. Get to know who your member neighbors are and join in the activities of our endeavors. We will be calling on you and asking for your participation; believe it from all of us who get involved--it can be fun and rewarding. Please be there for us and them out there in this area—they’re waiting for us.Gila Badner has just returned and will head our Telephone Committee. You will be receiving calls from her and her group. Besides the messages you receive via email, her committee will be reminding you of things you won't want to miss. RESTAURANT CAMPAIGN! Whether you are a daily, weekly or occasional restaurant diner, we all have our favorite eating establishments. The next time you do dine out, why not ask the owner/manager whether they would be interested in taking advantage of our member business by offering a discount to our members. (You will need 2 copies of our "restaurant letter"--one signed copy [with discount info on it] for the restaurant to retain, the other copy for our office.) Call the office for a copy or have it emailed to you (tel: 222-5466). Our member, Cilly Kaminoff, is to be commended for her campaign to sign up many excellent restaurants. See new additions on our list on page 6. AND...HERE ARE ARE NEWEST MEMBERS! How proud we are to add you to our roster.
