We want to congratulate and thank all of you who participated in any way in bringing about the success of the 2003 Bazaar.   Your generosity in delving in and putting it all together made it work so beautifully.  By one o'clock it was a clean sweep--completely sold out.  You can truly be proud of this undertaking.

It was heart-warming to see the cooperation and hard work performed by the members in transporting goods from the bodegas, unpacking boxes then putting the stock in the proper booths, and having the patience of Job in dealing with the mass of humanity that came through the entry gate.

The time has now arrived when we must pass mantle for this event on to someone else.  Al and I have been chairing the bazaar since 1997 and have seen it grow to the delight of the residents of Puerto Vallarta.  However, due to our daily business in running our rental and time-share properties, we can no longer steer this event.  The procedure for carrying out the details necessary prior to the day of set-up and thereafter have long been written down by me (Yvonne) for anyone to follow.  The Club, therefore, is seeking one of you to come forth and take over with a committee, comprised of members, to plan a procedure for gathering donated goods in the months preceding the event, and then the execution of same.  It's not a difficult task, but it does require commitment to the cause--generating funds to achieve the goals of IFC.   (Al and I will be readily available for consulting.) If duties are evenly distributed there would be no burden on any one person., and you don't have to be a 12-month resident.  Who of you is willing to take the helm, and who is wiling to assist?

The only other option would, of course, be to discontinue this annual affair.  Is this what you all want?

  Let us hear from you.

The luncheon for IFC members and friends at the Mayan Palace's "Bakal" restaurant was very enjoyable. Everyone ordered their own menu delight. The ambiance of the room with ocean view and comfortable air-conditioning was topped by the elegant and fun fashion show presented by La Bohemia. Since this was so well received, we will have to plan more similar events for the next season. Give me your ideas on what would be an event you would enjoy participating in whether in the daytime or evening. Thank you.

HOME TOURS

The IFC Home Tours (Wednesdays and Thursdays) through May 1, continue to be a hot ticket for both the tourists and the locals. Our ambitious docents have been taking their house guests with them and tell us even an "85-year-old mother to an 18-year-old 'spring breaker' and roommate have loved the experience.

They've noted that many people count the tour as a must for each and every time they visit Puerto Vallarta.

Last week a lovely lady from Virginia remarked that it was her 11th home tour. Thanks to Susan Austin and John Hamlin new and exciting villas are added each week; the villas are not repeated two weeks in a row so that visitors here for 2 weeks can see 8 different villas. Our tour guests come from all over the world and share many interesting stories with us. Our Club's colorful cookbook has also been a great attraction and many copies are bought just for gifts for family and friends back home.

Do come and join us (bring your visiting family and friends). We'll be on the lookout for you!
